Former NFL and Ohio State linebacker Darron Lee is in the fight for his life over accusations of murder.
The former New York Jets first-round pick is accused of the murder of his girlfriend, who he allegedly beat and stabbed to death last month. He faces first-degree murder charges for the death of his girlfriend, Gabriella Carvalho Perpetuo. ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported that prosecutors want Lee to get the death penalty.
Body camera footage showed Lee telling a police officer that the victim may have slipped and fallen in the shower. However, he was unsure of what had happened to her. The police report in the case indicates that blood was found throughout the house, along with broken glass.
Authorities also said that Perpetuo had “multiple stab wounds, black eyes, bite marks, and blood coming from her nose and mouth.”
What Darron Lee did on that fateful day has only gotten worse for him.
Prosecutors Say Darron Lee Used ChatGPT Following The Death of His Girlfriend

Former New York Jets first-round pick Darron Lee consulted ChatGPT for advice about an unresponsive person. That search came one day before his girlfriend, 29-year-old Gabriella Perpetuo, was found dead. Investigators conducted a forensic download of Lee’s phone and found messages. It showed he had asked ChatGPT a series of questions the day before Perpetuo was found dead in the couple’s home, WCTV reported.
The first message that was read in court was damning. It read, “Don’t know what to do right now, fiancee did her crazy thing again, and now she’s messed up. I wake up and she has two swollen eyes (I didn’t do anything, self inflicted) she stabbed herself, slit her eye? [I don’t know], but she isn’t waking up or responding, what do I do?”
Another message allegedly from Lee read, “allie what should I tell my friend to handle someone non responsive but wants to call the police.” Darron Lee referred to the AI assistant as ‘Allie.’
His girlfriend had stab wounds to her legs and significant injuries to her face. The medical examiner ruled her cause of death as blunt force trauma. District Attorney General, Coty Wamp is arguing that Lee tried to use technology to help him cover up the circumstances surrounding Perpetuo’s death.
Before his fall from grace, Lee won a national championship with the Buckeyes in 2015 and a Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019. He played in the league from 2016 through 2020.
