The Pittsburgh Steelers hoped to hear from Aaron Rodgers way earlier than they did last year. The veteran quarterback waited until June before making his decision.

After a solid 2025 season with Pittsburgh, leading the team to a 10-7 record and the AFC North division title, many thought it was a given that Rodgers would return to the squad. Even after Mike Tomlin’s departure, Mike McCarthy gave fans hope that Rodgers would be back for 2026.

However, as the months went by, Rodgers remained silent, saying he was pondering his options. In the first days of May, the player arrived in Pittsburgh, but the team remains reluctant to speak with the four-time NFL MVP.

Steelers insider Gerry Dulac reported on Saturday that the team has not spoken with Rodgers face-to-face. Instead, they have been in contact with his agent. Additionally, Rodgers has yet to enter the building while the rookie minicamp is underway.

“SOURCES: Aaron Rodgers has been in town for a couple days, but the Steelers have not met with him yet and instead have been talking with his agent. Rodgers has stayed away from the team’s South Side facility while the three-day rookie minicamp has been going on,” Dulac wrote.

Rodgers showed a better face in 2025, throwing for 3,322 yards and 24 touchdowns with seven interceptions. The Steelers added several offensive weapons that could help Rodgers lead them beyond the wild-card round.
