The rumors suggesting Deion Sanders could go to the NFL surfaced during his first season with the Colorado Buffaloes. The two-time Super Bowl champion turned things around in Boulder when he arrived from Jackson State.
He took the team to a bowl game in 2024, the final college season of Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter and others. After a disappointing 2025 season, Sanders remains an option for NFL teams.
The coach said he would only consider that option if he had the chance to coach his kids. However, he provided a new update on his desire to join the NFL.

During a conversation with Garrett Bush, Sanders explained where he stands on the possibility of coaching in the league.
“I never wanted their job. I love Colorado, man. I love my kids that I have in that locker room. I love the staff. I love all of it. I ain’t trying to coach in no NFL,” Deion said. “And I think a couple people may have thought that. And they thought if they brought him in, it would be that.”
Some said he plotted a move to hijack Kevin Stefanski’s job. The Browns fired the coach and brought in Todd Monken, who might not give Shedeur Sanders the chance to start next season.
