The Cleveland Browns shocked the NFL world on Monday when they agreed to send Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Jared Verse and draft compensation. Verse, 25, has shown off his talents during his first two years with the Rams.
He was expected to lead the defense for multiple years until the front office changed its plans. The Rams selected him with the No. 19 pick in the 2024 draft, and he lived up to the expectations, earning Pro Bowl nods in each of his first two seasons.
In 34 games, Verse has posted 124 tackles for 12 sacks, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He had created a connection with the Rams, and it all ended on Monday.
Jared Verse Sounds Hurt While Discussing Rams Trade

On Wednesday, the 2024 Defensive Rookie of the Year shared his thoughts on the situation. He expressed his sadness over leaving the Rams, but added that he’s excited about playing for the Browns.
“It caught me by surprise. I love L.A. I love the coaches, the organization, my teammates, the staff, the fans. I love the whole vibe of L.A. It was upsetting. I was upset for a good little bit of time, but when you’re an athlete you understand the nature of business,” Verse said. “Everybody does what they think is best for their business and that’s the situation that I’m in. I’m happy to be a part of the Browns. I’m happy that they believe in me and that they were able to make that trade and bring me here.”

The Browns are not a contender at all, but they continue to make moves to compete in the mid-term. Verse is young and dangerous. Perhaps they could build something great in Cleveland.
