Stefon Diggs Drops Clear Hint On Which NFL Team He’s Joining Next [VIDEO]

A reunion between Stefon Diggs and the Buffalo Bills once felt like the obvious outcome of this offseason. Diggs and several current Bills players had floated the idea publicly, and the door never seemed fully closed. With training camp now a month away, that door may be swinging shut — because Diggs is pointing somewhere else entirely.
What Stefon Diggs Actually Said About His Future

Speaking with FOX 5 in his hometown of Washington, D.C., Diggs didn’t hide his interest in landing with the Commanders.
“It’s a lot of hopes. We’re kind of figuring out, working through some things,” he said. He went further, describing what a homecoming would mean to him personally: “I did have a small piece of me like, damn, it would be great to come home and play in front of the fans I used to play in front of as a young adolescent… that definitely would be a moment.”
When asked directly whether he’d thought seriously about playing for Washington, his answer left little room for interpretation:
“100 percent,” he added. “That’s one of the first things I thought about like, damn, if I wanted to come back and play for my hometown team. I just had that same kind of energy when I chose to go to the University of Maryland. So I was just like, damn, it would be a thing. It would definitely be a thing if that kind of worked out. So, we’ll see, we’ll see. We’re not ruling it out.”
It’s a notable shift. Diggs has spent the past two seasons bouncing between teams — Houston in 2024, then a one-year stint with the New England Patriots that ended in a Super Bowl run before New England released him in March to clear cap space. He was found not guilty in his felony strangulation case this offseason, and the NFL declined to discipline him further, clearing the legal cloud that had hung over his free agency.
Why a Bills Reunion May Be Slipping Away

The hesitation isn’t just coming from Diggs. Buffalo head coach Joe Brady has been lukewarm at best about bringing him back, saying he’s comfortable with the current receiver room and isn’t sure where Diggs would fit. That’s a meaningful signal from a coaching staff that has searched for answers at receiver since Diggs left Buffalo back in 2024.
Washington, meanwhile, has a real need. The Commanders are still chasing a true No. 1 option to pair with Terry McLaurin, and a reunion with Brandon Aiyuk looks unlikely as long as the 49ers hold onto him. Diggs gives Jayden Daniels a proven, ten-year-running 1,000-yard threat — the same role he played opposite Josh Allen in Buffalo.
It’s worth noting Diggs isn’t short on suitors elsewhere either. The Chiefs, Raiders, and Ravens have all been floated as possibilities by various NFL insiders this offseason.
For now, though, the clearest signal points home. Training camps open in a matter of weeks, and if Stefon Diggs lands with the Commanders, it won’t be a surprise — he’s been telling everyone exactly where his heart is.
