Former Packers great Ahman Green shared some troubling news this week.

The NFL community received incredibly somber news. Sadly, the legendary franchise icon just shared a deeply personal medical battle. Social media networks were completely filled with supportive messages after a beloved sports hero updated the public.

The Heartbreaking News From Ahman Green

Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green runs though a hole in the Tampa Bay Buccanneer s defense for an 11-yard gain during the third quarter of their game on Sept. 25, 2005 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. Tampa Bay won 17-16.

The emotional health update spread across the internet rapidly. In an official post, Ahman Green revealed his medical diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease.

“Last year, I got diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s,” Green told Tyler Dunne on his Go Long podcast (h/t Jason Owens of Yahoo Sports).

“I had a little bit of the feet twitching when I’m in my sleep and stuff like that. I knew something was going on long before that. I just got a hold of some doctors that I was able to get in contact with. Get the diagnostics, get the testing. And finally got it tested last—it was January of 2025.”

He said that he wanted to inform his close family about his diagnosis before going public about the situation.

“I didn’t share it for a long time because I wanted to let my kids know, my family,” Ahman Green continued. “… I let them all know first before I told friends, family, somebody like yourself.”

Consequently, thousands of devoted football enthusiasts rushed online to show their immense support. The former gridiron star played 12 excellent seasons in the league.

His news comes weeks after Chris Johnson recently made headlines regarding his public revelation of an ALS diagnosis.

Therefore, learning about his tough physical battle immediately caused a massive emotional reaction online. Many users commented that they are praying heavily for his recovery.

Honoring The Great Legacy Of Green

Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green sees nothing but daylight while scampering for a touchdown during the first quarter of their game against the Arizona Cardinals on September 24, 2000, at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.

The elite running back established incredible franchise records during his peak years. Meanwhile, he famously became the all-time leading rusher for Green Bay with over eight thousand yards.

Green played 12 seasons in the NFL from 1998 to 2009. He spent eight years with the Packers. Of his 9,205 career rushing yards, 8,322 came in Green Bay.

He is also a 4-time Pro Bowler, and a 2-time college national champion.

In the meantime, Green told Dunne that he is “focused on healthy living, including working out and nutrition in addition to taking medication to combat the symptoms of the disease.”
