Buffalo Bills Hit With Major Injury Scare After DJ Moore Goes Down In First Game With Team

DJ Moore gave Bills fans a lot to like in his Buffalo debut before an ankle injury cut his day short.
Moore came out fast against the Panthers on Saturday, hauling in three catches for 61 yards on his first two drives, including a 32-yard grab that stood as Buffalo’s longest play of the afternoon.
However, Moore came off the field grabbing his ankle on his final snap of the day, an 18-yard reception.
DJ Moore Told Reporters He’s “Good To Go”

Moore spoke with Buffalo’s medical staff on the sideline before heading to the locker room. Head coach Joe Brady offered a reassuring update afterward, telling reporters he spoke with Moore following the game and called him “good to go.”
Brady added that Moore likely would have exited the game around that point in the drive regardless of the injury, given how the Bills were managing snap counts for their starters.
The Bills went on to win the preseason opener 29-14. Keon Coleman also made an impression in Moore’s absence, catching a touchdown pass from Josh Allen and adding a critical fourth-down grab from backup quarterback Kyle Allen.
Moore’s arrival in Buffalo came via a March trade that sent a 2026 second-round pick to Chicago in exchange for the wideout and a fifth-round pick.
The move reunited him with Brady, who coached Moore as Carolina’s offensive coordinator during two 1,000-yard seasons in 2020 and 2021. Moore has already made a strong impression off the field, too, personally buying out his own jersey shirts at a Buffalo retail store just to hand them out to fans for free shortly after the trade closed.
A Trade Buffalo Hopes Pays Off Immediately

The Bills’ front office viewed the deal as a major offensive upgrade the moment it sent Chicago a package for the veteran wideout back in March, giving quarterback Josh Allen a proven target after a middling receiving corps limited Buffalo’s passing attack in 2025.
Moore is not expected to play in Buffalo’s next preseason game on Aug. 22 against the Browns, based on typical injury caution during exhibition play.
The Bills have not issued a formal diagnosis, and an official update on Moore’s status is expected in the coming days as the team turns its attention to the regular-season opener against the Texans.
