Controversial New York Jets owner Woody Johnson has acquired a strategic minority stake in the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team. The Jets chairman will join the Board of Directors as Vice Chairman with immediate effect.

Johnson brings experience from the NFL and English Premier League. He owns the Jets and holds a significant stake in Crystal Palace, one of the teams with the most exponential growth in British football in recent years. The team highlighted his network and sports investment background as key assets.

Billionaire Lawrence Stroll, father of Lance Stroll, remains Executive Chairman and controlling shareholder. Johnson will focus on commercial growth, especially in the United States. He will not handle day-to-day management duties.

Stroll welcomed the addition.

Johnson developed an appreciation for the brand during his time as US Ambassador to the United Kingdom. He praised Stroll’s vision and the team’s potential.

The investment comes as Formula One continues its rapid growth in the American market. Aston Martin views Johnson’s involvement as a way to unlock commercial synergies across global sports.

Johnson has owned the Jets since 2000. He also expanded into soccer with Crystal Palace, a team that has developed major stars in recent years, including World Cup selections Michael Olise, Ezeberi Eze and Marc Guehi, to name a few.

Johnson’s entry into Formula One adds another high-profile franchise to his portfolio.

The exact size of the stake and financial details remain undisclosed. The announcement reinforces the team’s momentum under Stroll’s leadership as it aims to compete at the highest level.
