The Dallas Cowboys might look to make a trade to get their season back on track. With the trade deadline just 17 days away, the team has one more chance to patch up its biggest problems.

Dallas has struggled over the past two weeks, particularly with its running game and pass protection. The defense also remains a concern despite showing some improvement against the Green Bay Packers. Still, the Cowboys have enough talent to compete in the NFC East, and another move could help them strengthen their playoff chances.

Dallas has already pulled off two trades this year. Now, rumors are connecting them to a young pass rusher who could bring some much-needed energy to their defense.

According to The Athletic, the Cowboys could make a move for Los Angeles Chargers edge rusher Tuli Tuipulotu before the trade deadline. The 24-year-old has already earned a Pro Bowl selection and ranks among the top players who could become available.

The Athletic’s Daniel Popper placed Tuipulotu at No. 5 on his NFL trade deadline big board. He also pointed to the Chargers’ difficult position as a reason the team could consider moving the young defender.

“After an 0-6 start, the Chargers should be selling,” Popper wrote.

He described Tuipulotu as a young, well-rounded edge rusher who continues to improve. The defender also enters the final year of his rookie contract, which could push both sides toward a decision about his future.

The Chargers and Tuipulotu discussed a contract extension during the offseason, but could not reach an agreement. His performance has only strengthened his value since then.

“Tuipulotu took a big step as a player in 2025. He has sustained that performance this season,” Popper added.

The numbers also support the case for Tuipulotu. Since the start of the 2025 season, he ranks 11th in pressure rate among players with at least 250 pass-rush snaps.

For Dallas, a move for Tuipulotu could address a major weakness on defense. The Cowboys need more consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks, and his production could help them improve in that area.

The Chargers have struggled even more than Dallas this season, making them a team to watch as the deadline approaches. A deal would give the Cowboys another opportunity to strengthen their roster while they remain in the NFC East race.

However, Dallas would still need to work out a trade with Los Angeles before adding the Pro Bowl defender.
