Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyquan Thornton suffered a horrific left ankle fracture-dislocation during Sunday’s game against the Raiders.

He got hurt late in the fourth quarter after making a massive 55-yard catch. As he went down, his left foot stuck awkwardly into the grass while his body rolled over.

Incredibly, Thornton did not initially realize the full severity of the structural bone damage. High levels of game adrenaline completely masked the extreme pain of the clean break of the bone. Subsequently, the young receiver immediately stood all the way up to celebrate his spectacular deep reception. He took one painful step before his broken joint collapsed entirely underneath his body weight.

The sudden realization of the graphic injury forced him back down onto the Allegiant Stadium turf.

Now he is finding out his fate.

NFL Network national insider Ian Rapoport shared an important medical update on Twitter regarding Tyquan Thornton’s ankle injury. He reported that the Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver suffered a severe, graphic dislocated ankle during Sunday’s game. Subsequently, the stadium’s medical doctors successfully popped the deformed joint back into place.

Rapoport provided a highly encouraging travel update for anxious Kansas City fans and fantasy managers. He confirmed that the young breakout pass-catcher actually “did make the plane with the team” back home. Consequently, Thornton will undergo a comprehensive evaluation first thing in the morning to determine the extent of the damage.

The injured player also plans to seek a necessary second opinion regarding his surgical recovery timeline. Rapoport formally declared that the talented deep threat is officially considered “out indefinitely” from football action. Furthermore, he added a very positive personal detail, explicitly stating that the rookie remains “in good spirits.”

He was having a breakout game before the injury occurred. The wide receiver caught five passes for 111 yards during the matchup. Additionally, he scored two touchdowns before leaving the field.
