Lamar Jackson left Sunday’s win in a walking boot, and Baltimore still does not have a firm return date. The two-time MVP sat out the second half of a 24-18 victory over the Tennessee Titans after Jermaine Johnson sacked him late in the first half.

He had completed 15 of 20 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns before the hit, and he also carried the Ravens to an early lead. Coach Jesse Minter said Monday the team was still gathering information on the ankle.

Baltimore entered the week tied with Cleveland atop the AFC North at 3-1, and the next test sits on national television. The Ravens visit the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night, and the quarterback room now has to plan for both answers. Tyler Huntley ran the offense after halftime, and he remains the logical starter if the tests do not clear in time.

Contract Year Adds Heat To The Ankle Clock

Sources told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport that Jackson has only a slim chance of playing Sunday and could miss multiple games. The sprain is not considered long-term and should not require surgery. Minter left the Week 5 call open. That gap between a short diagnosis and a soft timetable is where the contract talk entered.

Nick Wright argued on First Things First that Jackson’s injury history makes the optimistic read risky. He pointed to past ankle, knee and hamstring absences that ran longer than the first public updates suggested, and he tied this one to money.

“This is where Lamar’s own history on injury recovery is ominous,” Wright said. “We don’t know if this is a Harbaugh thing, how Lamar communicates thing or Lamar’s comfortability playing when he’s not 100 percent. One of the criticisms of him is he’s not always communicating with the organization. I think the lack of an agent hurts him in this regard as someone filtering messages for him. You mentioned the contract thing. Lamar Jackson is essentially in a contract year. He has no guaranteed money on his contract after this year.”

Baltimore already failed to lock up a new deal before Week 1, and the unresolved talks heading into 2027 still sit over the roster.

Huntley Steps Up If The Boot Stays On

The injury is to Jackson’s left ankle, and he left M&T Bank Stadium in a protective boot. Rapoport’s update moved the outlook from day-to-day hope toward a multi-game risk, though nothing official has ruled him out for Sunday.

“Yeah, he was just dealing with a little bit of an ankle, we hope,” Minter said after the Titans win. “I don’t know enough about it right now.”

Huntley took first-team reps in the plan if Jackson cannot go, and Baltimore’s record without its starter since 2019 is a warning. The Ravens are 6-11 in those games, with scoring dropping from 28.4 points to 17.6.

Jackson has thrown for 967 yards, six touchdowns and one interception this season, and he has added 144 rushing yards. Those numbers came before the boot, and they also explain why the Falcons line moved once the report landed.
