It’s not often that head coaches get hurt during games, but it certainly happened to Mike McCarthy.

Coaches regularly move up and down the sidelines all game long, but it’s not often that they are in harm’s way as long as they are paying attention. For McCarthy, his injury had nothing to do with a play and was likely more a matter of age.

While trying to conduct his halftime interview, something happened to his ankle that forced him into the blue medical tent. His injury was so bad that he never went to the locker room during halftime.

After halftime, he came out of the tent and continued coaching the game.

Broadcast reports later confirmed that he suffered a sprain from the accidental twist.

The Steelers badly need Mike McCarthy to give them something to get back into the game. The team is currently down double digits to the 1-4 Tampa Bay Bucs. A loss would drop them to 3-3 and put them in last place in the AFC North.
