The wait is finally over: Jay-Z and the NFL have announced the halftime show for Super Bowl LXI in Los Angeles.
The rapper, who serves as the decision-maker for Super Bowl halftime talent, has consistently made popular and unpopular picks over the years. No one could’ve seen this next decision coming.
There was buzz about Miley Cyrus doing it, and even Justin Bieber at one point. Neither of them will be there to perform, as Jay-Z decided to choose someone who was already in-house: Himself.

Despite not having released an album since 2017, he will be the headliner of the big game in Los Angeles. His many chart-topping hits have stood the test of time. His last album, 4:44, achieved double-platinum status.
Super Bowl LXI is set to take place on Sunday, February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium. As of this writing, he has not yet issued a public statement regarding this report. His choosing himself may already have been in the works, as the 56-year-old is also fresh off a successful 2026 run of shows. Back in July, he had two sold-out concerts at Yankee Stadium that brought in $42 million, per the same report.
A 2027 performance would provide him the opportunity to present his extensive musical genius to an entirely new generation.
