Lamar Jackson’s long-awaited return ended almost as soon as it began on Sunday.
The Baltimore Ravens quarterback had missed three games after hurting his ankle in Week 4.
Unfortunately, he left the field on his first play back. Tyler Huntley took over before getting ruled out himself. CBS Sports added that the Ravens ruled him out for the rest of the game.
Jackson’s right hand hit a defender’s arm as he threw to Zay Flowers on the first Ravens drive. He did not return.
Then The Baltimore Banner’s Jonas Shaffer shared a close-up of the thumb on X.
“A look at Lamar Jackson’s right thumb,” he wrote, crediting Getty Images photographer Bryan M. Bennett.

“oh my goodness one of the worst injured i’ve ever seen. prayers up for him,” one fan wrote, likely sarcastically.

“It looks like a normal thumb,” one fan claimed.

“So a normal thumb?” another fan asked.
“Yeah that looks dislocated,” someone else wrote.
Baltimore hosts the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday. Jackson’s status for that game is considered doubtful.
