The New York Giants could pivot to Derrick Henry ahead of the 2026 NFL trade deadline. They were linked with a potential move for Jonathan Taylor, as rumors about the Colts running back continue circling.

However, the competition to acquire Taylor’s services and a surprise change in Baltimore could open the door for another blockbuster move. Cam Skattebo hasn’t provided the type of production the Giants expected from him ahead of this season, and the front office could bring in more help.

Henry could leave the Ravens and join a different franchise, and a reunion with John Harbaugh seems on the cards.

On Monday, Mike Florio floated the possibility of New York changing its mind and going after Henry instead of Taylor after Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley sustained injuries on Sunday.

“With Baltimore’s season potentially falling apart following Sunday injuries to starting quarterback Lamar Jackson (thumb) and his backup Tyler Huntley (toe), there could be another running back to potentially be pursued at or before the November 10 deadline, by the Giants or other teams,” he wrote.

Florio noted that Henry’s current contract could land the Ravens one or two draft picks.

“Beyond the fact that the Giants view Taylor as on the second tier of current NFL tailbacks with Henry, Giants coach John Harbaugh has experience with Henry.”

Henry has scored 130 touchdowns during his remarkable career. This year, he leads the league with 158 carries. He has 632 yards (4.0 per carry) and eight touchdowns. Taylor still looks like the favorite for many teams, but the Giants could have an opportunity hard to decline.
