Neither the Dallas Cowboys nor star rookie safety Caleb Downs had the best Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cowboys entered the fourth quarter with a 24-10 lead but lost in overtime.

Downs made the rounds on social media, and not for the best reasons. The Ohio State product became the target of the Cardinals’ taunts. In the second quarter, veteran tight end Trey McBride beat Downs to a catch, immediately mocking his opponent.

“You’re a first-round pick?” he asked while laughing.

Downs had to endure another embarrassing situation in the fourth quarter. Tyler Allgeier put up a show with 11 carries for 147 yards and one touchdown. He took off early in the fourth quarter for a 52-yard run. Cardinals center Hjalte Froholdt helped him succeed. He repeatedly blocked Downs, making it look like he was dribbling the safety.

Arizona outscored the Cowboys, 20-13, in the fourth quarter to force overtime. A 42-yard field goal from Chad Ryland sealed the deal for the NFC West team.

Downs finished with four total tackles and a couple of viral clips. The Cowboys’ defense hasn’t improved since last season, and fans are demanding changes.
