The Los Angeles Chargers likely do not want to trade Justin Herbert at any point. But a league executive has revealed what he reckons they could get in exchange for the talented quarterback.

The exec reportedly believes the team could land three first-round picks for Herbert, a claim that follows FS1’s Nick Wright floating a similar Jets trade package earlier this month.

Evan Sidery shared the claim on X and credited ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

“A rival executive believes the Chargers could receive three future 1st-round picks for Justin Herbert, if they ever decided to shop him, per @AdamSchefter, Evan Sidery shared via X on Tuesday. “Los Angeles said they won’t consider trading Herbert, who owns a full no-trade clause in his contract.”

Schefter described the person as a high-level league executive, saying on The Adam Schefter Podcast that he got cut off once he asked someone within the Chargers organization.

“Let me be very clear about this: we have never even discussed that idea,” they were quoted as saying.

They told Schefter that “has never once been uttered in our organization, nor will it be.”

“While others have debated whether Justin Herbert should be traded, the Chargers have not,” Schefter noted.

Tom Pelissero previously reported that the Chargers had no near-term plans to trade Herbert.

Los Angeles fell to 0-5 with a 23-17 loss to Denver in Week 6.

Herbert, meanwhile, has completed 59.4% of his passes for 937 yards and five touchdowns. But he also leads the NFL in interceptions so far this season, with no receiver making more than one touchdown catch through those five games.

Herbert also got sacked five times vs. the Broncos, with the issue on the offensive line hardly addressed.

The Chargers face Kansas City in Week 6 before a Week 7 bye.

Herbert signed a five-year, $262.5 million extension in 2023. It runs through 2029 and includes a no-trade clause.
