Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals avoided a big-time trainwreck during Saturday’s Fanatics Flag Football Classic.

Burrow and Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels are the co-captains for Wildcats FFC, one of three teams in the inaugural Fanatics Flag Football Classic. Tom Brady and Jalen Hurts are co-captains for Founders FFC, with the U.S. men’s national flag football team rounding up the third club.

The point of flag football, of course, is to play the enjoyable game without the danger of tackling. And yet, Joe Burrow was awfully close to suffering what could have been a devastating injury.

In the second half of the Founders’ game against Team USA, a teammate threw Burrow a dangerous hospital pass that could have caused a horrific injury. Thankfully, the physical contact was minimal:

Unfortunately, Burrow has already suffered three significant injuries over his first six NFL seasons.

He suffered season-ending MCL and ACL injuries in a game against Washington during his rookie season. In 2023, he suffered a season-ending wrist injury against the Baltimore Ravens, just as the Bengals had climbed back into the playoff race.

In Week 2 of 2025, Burrow suffered a turf toe injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was limited to eight games. Through six seasons, Burrow has been limited to 77 games, per Pro Football Reference.
