Buffalo Bills Star Reveals He Took “Enough Drugs To Sedate A Small Elephant”

Buffalo Bills right tackle Spencer Brown has been dealing with a back injury since he played the Los Angeles Rams on October 12.
Brown left that 37-34 overtime win in Inglewood, California. He returned for Buffalo’s 33-30 win in Las Vegas six days later. That win sent the Bills into their bye at 5-1.
The Monday night game also produced Stafford’s mic’d-up crack at Allen before overtime.
Brown addressed his injury report listing this week.
Pro Football Talk reports he said the back issue would not keep him off the field. He also explained how he got through the Rams game. Brown told reporters he “took enough drugs to sedate a small elephant when I was in LA.”
PFT notes that reporters chuckled, but Brown called it routine. “Everybody’s laughing. It’s protocol. NFL signed off on it, so it’s OK,” he said.
“But yeah, just took care of the body the best way I knew how and got through the Vegas game and played pretty well and got on the bye week and kind of bit me in the butt a little bit. So, just taking it easy and smart.”
He added that the bye week “kind of bit me in the butt a little bit.” Brown now says he is “taking it easy and smart.”

Brown Sat Out Wednesday And Thursday Practices Ahead Of Sunday’s Ravens Game

Brown did not practice Wednesday or Thursday due to said back issue. His status for Sunday’s tilt against the Baltimore Ravens remains unclear. Tylan Grable would likely start at right tackle if he sits.
Brown insisted he still wants to play whenever he can.
“I do pride myself on being ready every single day,” he remarked.
PFT’s Michael David Smith wrote that it is fair to question whether the NFL should let players take the field when they need that kind of medication. He pointed to recent scrutiny, including Jalen Hurts’ medical timeline.
Smith also cited Christian Watson’s trip to the hospital before the Packers receiver returned to Thursday night’s game.
