The Green Bay Packers got a relieving second-half surprise when Christian Watson returned to the field. It was a shocking moment after he suffered a chest injury and left the stadium in an ambulance.

However, before you knew it, he later came back to Lambeau Field and got back into the game.

After the game, reporters wanted to speak to him about his injury. It became painfully clear that he should’ve never been allowed to return.

Following the game, Christian Watson revealed that he was coughing up blood on Thursday night. He also revealed that he had a broken rib.

“I was spitting up some blood or something like that, so the doctor said I had to go get a CT,” Watson said. “I was trying to beg him to not make me do that. I got a rib, that’s all, but the other stuff was good. No internal bleeding, nothing like that.”

Watson said he would always play through pain if he possibly could.

“Before I even left, I wanted to get back out there,” Watson said.

“This means everything to me, to be out there on the football field. I’ve had injuries I was not able to go on the field for, and I’ve missed significant time due to injuries, so any chance I get to go out there on the football field, I’m going to be out there on the football field.”

Head coach Matt LaFleur added that Watson “landed on the ball.”

“It’s pretty remarkable. He landed on the ball, I believe that’s what I was told, and he was coughing up blood,” LaFleur said post-game.

“So they took him for precautionary reasons and had to check him all out and get like a CT scan or something. He obviously cleared that and was good to go back in the game. He had a heck of a night, and I just can’t imagine what he would have had he not missed so much time.”

Christian Watson finished the game with eight catches for 113 yards. Prior to his injury, he had six catches for 100 yards. Consequently, when he returned, he caught two catches for 13 yards.

The Packers won 27-19 and improved to 5-3, while the Panthers dropped to 3-4. Because they played on Thursday, Watson has extra time to heal up before their next game on November 8.
