Clay Travis is out at OutKick.

The journalist created the digital sports platform over a decade ago but is reportedly stepping away, as it’s set to be integrated into FOX News Digital, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Travis will remain with FOX and has signed a new deal to work as a contributor with FOX News. He will also remain on as the host of ‘OutKick the Show with Clay Travis’ on FS1.

The former lawyer founded the platform in 2011 and sold it to FOX News Media in 2021. He also hosts a syndicated radio talk show with political commentator Buck Sexton.

“When I created OutKick in 2011, the goal was not only for the site to be smart, original, funny, and authentic, but also to become an influential digital platform in the industry,” Travis said in a statement, per THR

It continues:

“Over the past 15 years, with the help of an incredible team and the support from Fox, that goal has been accomplished. While I am stepping away from OutKick, the platform is in a tremendous position to continue building upon its success and reach an even wider audience as it takes its next step as a vertical within Fox News Digital. I’m excited about the future of OutKick and remaining part of the Fox News Media family as a contributor.”

FOX is looking to widen OK’s audience and reach by making it part of FOX News Digital.

They have disclosed that the site brought in the most page views from unique devices in May.

The new structure will see the companies operate similarly to The New York Times and The Athletic. The Times bought The Athletic but allied it to keep its identity as it became a big part of the former’s portfolio.

“Clay Travis has been an integral voice and leader for OutKick and is leaving the platform well positioned for the future,” FOX News Media president and executive editor Jay Wallace said.

“We thank him for his invaluable contributions to OutKick as we continue to grow it under the Fox News Digital domain and build on our momentum in driving authentic coverage of the intersection of sports and culture.”

OutKick has added multiple names across the sports and politics journalism landscape over the past few years, including George Murdoch, Riley Gaines, Tomi Lahren and Dan Dakich.
