Denver Broncos’ Interest In A.J. Brown Revealed After Jaylen Waddle Trade

A.J. Brown’s name surfaced on Monday after the Denver Broncos made a splash on Tuesday. The AFC West team pulled off a big move to improve its receiving corps. The Broncos sent their first-, third- and fourth-round picks to the Dolphins in exchange for Jaylen Waddle.
The Dolphins went full rebuilding mode, while the Broncos made a win-now trade. Adding Waddle to the room will give quarterback Bo Nix much more to work with.
Besides Waddle, another wide receiver who surfaced on Tuesday was A.J. Brown. The Philadelphia Eagles star has been linked with several teams in recent weeks, including the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams. The Eagles decided not to trade him soon, but the rumors could heat up again in the coming months.
Were The Broncos Interested In A.J. Brown?

NFL insider Dianna Russini reported on Tuesday that Brown was never a player of interest for the Broncos. They always had their sights set on Waddle, whom they ended up trading for.
“Despite speculation, I’m told the Denver Broncos never showed interest in trading for A.J. Brown. They always had their eye on Jaylen Waddle. Sean Payton and Bo Nix have a new receiving threat,” Russini tweeted.

With the Rams out of the race for Brown, it seems that the Patriots are the clear-cut favorite to land Brown. They added Romeo Doubs in free agency, but there might be room for another weapon.
Brown played 17 games in 2025, catching 78 passes for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns. The Eagles couldn’t defend their Super Bowl title, losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the 2025 wild-card round.
The Broncos could not move past the Patriots in the AFC championship game, but they have renewed expectations after landing Waddle.
