Josh Jacobs has two new charges and one ticking clock. Brown County filed misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal damage to property on Thursday. Both are Class A counts. Each can bring nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine.

The formal paper landed more than three months after his May 26 arrest. Police first booked him on five counts, including a felony. Prosecutors dropped the felony and two other misdemeanors. They kept the pair that now sit on the docket. His first court date is Nov. 17.

District Attorney David L. Lasee said the office waited on fresh forensic work.

“A criminal complaint is nothing more than a written, formal accusation,” he said. “Mr. Jacobs is presumed innocent of these charges.”

Jacobs’ lawyers drew a hard line on the label.

“The Brown County District Attorney has reviewed evidence and elected to file misdemeanor charges against Josh that do not include domestic violence,” the firm said. “The allegations will be addressed in court, and not in the media.”

The NFL is running its own file. Tom Pelissero said the league is monitoring every development. Adam Schefter has said any ban would likely land before kickoff. Green Bay already mapped a suspension scenario in camp.

General manager Brian Gutekunst did not flinch.

“I’m pretty confident we can sustain it,” he said. “We’ve obviously been prepared for that in case that happens.”

He likes the backs behind Jacobs. He also left the door open for a claim or a practice-squad bump.

Jacobs has practiced when healthy since the jail night. He missed only that one day. The Schefter update still hangs over Week 1. A personal-conduct hit does not need a conviction. The league can move first.

That is why cut talk got loud. Jacobs turns 28. His cap number jumps. He has been the Packers’ lead back for two seasons and has 2,258 rushing yards. There is no clear heir on the 53. MarShawn Lloyd is the name in the building. Gutekunst still might add a body if the hammer drops.

Fans made it clear they wanted him out of the NFC North franchise.

“Release him,” one said.

“It was fun while it lasted but gtfo bye ✌️,” one wrote.

“Cut him… Get out GET THE F–K OUT,” someone commented.

“My father who is a detective for the Hobart PD, said the Josh Jacobs domestic violence video is one of the most harrowing things he’s seen in his law enforcement career. I’m expected a season ending suspension,” someone claimed.

“Lock him up,” one added.

A woman identified as his girlfriend told police a phone fight turned physical. Officers noted redness and a bump on her head. Garage cameras exist. House cameras do not. Those details now sit in court, not in a presser.
