Jalen Hurts tried to cool down rumors about problems with AJ Brown after the Philadelphia Eagles stars skipped each other’s events, which genuinely questioned their friendship.

Brown recently married his longtime partner, Kelsey Riley, during a luxury wedding in California. Hurts and his wife, Bry Burrows, did not attend the ceremony. Their absence led to rumors about possible tension between the quarterback and the wide receiver.

People were already talking about their relationship after a frustrating 2024 season for the Eagles’ offense. Brown often looked frustrated during games as the passing offense struggled under former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.

Hurts faced questions about Brown’s future during a recent media session. Reporters asked him how a possible Brown trade would impact the offense. Hurts paused, grabbed a drink, and joked, “Picked the right question to sip on, huh?”

He then pushed the focus back to football.

“For us, we’re only focused on learning the offense,” Hurts said. “It really doesn’t change in terms of our approach to improve. There’s an ‘if’… obviously it’s been a lingering thing, but nothing can replace all of the greatness that we achieved together.”

Hurts also addressed speculation about problems between him and Brown away from the field. He made it clear he still values the relationship.

“Nothing’s changed. … We’re really good,” Hurts said.

He also congratulated Brown on his marriage and said he admired the wedding photos.

“I saw how beautiful the pictures came out at his wedding,” Hurts said. “I’m very happy for him and his wife and his family. It’s a beautiful thing to step into convenance so I was very excited and congratulatory towards that.”

Hurts and Brown share a long history. ESPN previously reported that the two became close friends during high school. Hurts also serves as the godfather to Brown’s daughter, Jersee.

Still, rumors about tension between them continued late last season. A source claimed things “weren’t good” between the pair. Former Eagles player Brandon Graham also suggested their friendship had hit a rough patch.

People also noticed awkward moments during games. At times, Hurts and Brown connected for touchdowns but showed little emotion toward each other afterward.

Despite the outside noise, Hurts insisted earlier this year that the two had already talked through any issues. He said in January that they remained “in a great place” after the Eagles’ playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Brown and Riley got married earlier this month at the Montage Laguna Beach resort. The couple shares a son together, Arthur Juan Brown Jr.
