The Las Vegas Raiders are in a real problem, and their latest loss has people wondering where the team goes from here. After starting the season hot at 3-0, they’ve dropped four games in a row to fall to 3-4. With things sliding fast, plenty of fans and analysts are calling for big roster changes.

Maxx Crosby has been the heart and soul of the Raiders’ defense for years. Even so, CBS Sports analyst Pete Prisco thinks the front office should seriously look at trading their star pass rusher before the deadline. With the team falling out of contention, Prisco argues that flipping Crosby for high draft picks could set them up better for the future.

Parting ways with a franchise cornerstone wouldn’t be easy, especially with how much the team leans on him. But the Raiders have to ask themselves if holding onto a veteran star really makes sense while they try to rebuild around younger guys.

Prisco believes the Raiders should focus on their long-term plans rather than hold onto Crosby while the team struggles to find its footing.

“The trade deadline is coming up. Maxx Crosby is a wanted commodity, and they traded Maxx Crosby once. Let’s not forget that,” Prisco said on CBS Sports. “I am sure people tell him that all the time. When the trade deadline comes, they should be sitting there and saying, ‘Hey, we can get a bunch of assets for a guy that is probably not going to be around here when we become something with our young quarterback.’ Let’s trade him, get those assets, and try and continue to build.”

The Raiders have several young players who could shape their future, including quarterback Fernando Mendoza, running back Ashton Jeanty, and tight ends Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer. The team needs more help around that group.

Crosby remains in his prime, which makes the current trade window worth considering. However, the Raiders may struggle to match the compensation they sought from the Baltimore Ravens during their previous trade discussions.

The defensive end also faces criticism after the team’s latest collapse against the Los Angeles Rams. Linebacker Quay Walker addressed the defense’s struggles after the loss and stressed the need for players to win their individual matchups.

“I think it comes down to something simple: a grown man playing blocks … Not pointing fingers or whatever the case may be, just winning your one-on-one, whoever is blocking you, just getting off a block and making the tackle,” Walker said.

Their offensive line has struggled to hold blocks, while their defense has failed to consistently stop opponents.

With Kirk Cousins at quarterback, a playoff push looks difficult. Trading Crosby could give Las Vegas extra draft capital to address its biggest needs.
