EA Sports has revealed its quarterback ratings for “Madden 27,” and NFL fans already have a lot to say about them.

The makers picked Chicago Bears star Caleb Williams as the cover athlete for this year’s game. Williams enters the season with a 90 overall rating. Even with his picture on the front, he sits behind eight quarterbacks in the latest rankings.

The biggest shock comes at the very top of the list. Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford holds a 99 overall rating and ranks as the No.1 quarterback in the game. Stafford earned that high mark after a great season in which he completed 65% of his passes for 4,707 yards, 46 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions.

EA Sports also gave 99 overall ratings to Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow follows with a 97 overall rating. Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes each received a 94 rating. Drake Maye, Dak Prescott, Justin Herbert, Caleb Williams, and Jared Goff round out the top 10.

Fans Question Several Rankings

Fans quickly challenged the rankings after EA Sports released the list. Much of the criticism focused on Burrow ranking ahead of both Jackson and Mahomes.

One fan wrote, “What on earth has Joe Burrow done to deserve being 3-4 overalls higher than 2 time MVP Lamar and 2 time MVP 3 time Super Bowl winner Mahomes.”

Another fan questioned Jackson’s rating and said, “Lamar Jackson a f****** 94 these sports games are irredeemable dogshit and no one should be wasting their money on them.”

Some fans also took issue with Herbert’s place in the rankings.

“The Justin Herbert hype is crazy,” one fan posted on social media.

Others pointed to Stafford’s spot at the top of the list.

“40 year old Matt Stafford being a 99 overall QB is crazy,” another fan wrote.

Burrow’s rating drew more criticism from fans who compared his score to those of Jackson and Mahomes.

One fan commented, “EA putting Burrow at a 97 for missing playoffs 3 straight years yet 2x MVPs Lamar and Mahomes at a 94 and 93.”

This argument will probably keep going as the new season gets closer. EA Sports frequently updates player ratings all through the year. But right now, these quarterback ranks are a hot topic for football and game lovers.
