New Report Reveals Jerry Jeudy’s Reaction To Being Demoted By Cleveland Browns

Ever since Jerry Jeudy arrived in Cleveland in 2024, he has been their WR1. That same year, he went for a career-high 90 catches and 1,229 yards. In addition, he accumulated four touchdowns.

Jeudy earned a Pro Bowl in his first full season with the Browns. Moreover, he established himself as one of the premier wide receivers in the NFL. 

However, due to the Browns’ unpredictable QB situation heading into Week 1, some stuff needed to be experimented with, especially on their offensive schemes. And one of those major changes involved Jeudy.

Browns Demoted Jerry Jeudy To WR2

After Jeudy’s so-so campaign last year, it was clear to the Browns’ upper brass that changes needed to be made. The move started this year’s NFL Draft. Cleveland brought in a couple of receivers, KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston, in the hopes of improving their offense.

After training camp and the preseason, the team officially moved Jerry Jeudy to the Z spot. For the last couple of years, he was the team’s WR1.

Coach Todd Monken was asked about how his star WR accepted the news. Surprisingly, it wasn’t too bad. 

“It’s been great. In fact, I met with him today and he was great. We just feel like we want the ability to keep him on the move, whether it’s a Z or an F, and I think we can still play him at X. We want to move him around, and we wanted to see how Denzel would function as our X receiver,” Monken said to reporters.

Browns New Offense Doesn’t Favor The X Or Z Receiver

Whether it would be Denzel Boston, Jerry Jeudy, or KC Concepcion, the Browns’ new offense won’t favor the newly minted X receiver for this team.

In an additional interview, coach Monken explained further that, “I just view it as we’re trying to put the pieces where we can best allow us to function offensively. I really don’t care who plays X or who plays Z. … We just thought Denzel’s skill set gave us some things there that Jerry’s didn’t, and Jerry’s skill set playing off the ball allowed us to really maximize his skill set.”

Truth be told, it really won’t matter when the team doesn’t even know how to correct its quarterback rotation. Until they fix that, all the receivers on the team are heading into a questionable year.
