Bears Superstar WR Luther Burden III Gets Major Injury Update Ahead Of Week 1

Just a few weeks ago, the immediate availability of Chicago Bears wide receiver Luther Burden III was in question.
During training camp, the incoming sophomore limped off practice after a brutal collision with team cornerback Tyrique Stevenson. While he walked off after the incident, it was clear that he may have sustained a devastating injury in the process.
In what would be an anticipated breakout season for Burden, the timing of the injury seemingly put a halt to his plans to succeed in Chicago.
Luther Burden III Status Ahead Of Week 1

After sustaining a groin injury and missing all of the Bears’ preseason games, there were fears that Burden would not be available to play in the team’s season opener. But according to head coach Ben Johnson, the speedy receiver is expected to suit up in week 1.
“He looks 100% to me,” Johnson replied when asked about Burden’s progress.
“Hopefully,” he added, responding to a question about whether his star WR is ready to play. A little suspense, but nonetheless a positive sign for Chicago.
That’s the kind of response that Bears fans would love to hear. During his rookie year, he finished with 47 receptions for 652 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Burden Could Have Bigger Role For The Bears

With the Bears trading away DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills in the offseason, Luther Burden III is expected to have a huge role for the team in the upcoming season. That’s why Chicago did not rush him into the preseason, as they want him to be at 100%.
Burden wasn’t the only Bears player who was injured during one of the team’s offseason practices. RB Kyle Monangai also sustained an injury after a tackle from Grady Jarrett.
