New York Giants & Kansas City Chiefs Could Pull Off Blockbuster Quarterback Trade In The Next 24 Hours

Justin Fields might be packing his bags again, and he could be headed right to New York. The New York Giants have started looking at quarterback options after Jaxson Dart suffered a knee injury that will keep him out for the foreseeable future.

Fields has popped up as an interesting name to watch. The Chiefs traded for him from the Jets before the season started, just in case Patrick Mahomes couldn’t go in Week 1. But with Mahomes back and playing like himself, Kansas City might be open to letting Fields go.

The Giants could pull the trigger on a deal as early as Monday. A lot depends on how Jameis Winston looks against the Titans, too. New York just has to figure out if they only need a reliable backup or if they want someone who can actually push Winston for the starting spot.

Chiefs Could Move Fields Again

Fields signed a two-year, $40 million contract with the Jets last year. The deal includes $10 million guaranteed for 2026. Kansas City currently pays $3 million of his salary, while the Jets cover the other $7 million.

The Chiefs could recoup their 2027 sixth-round pick if they trade Fields. They would also clear the remaining part of his 2026 salary. However, Kansas City would need another quarterback behind Mahomes.

Rookie Garrett Nussmeier could take over as the No. 2 quarterback if the Chiefs move Fields. Coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach could also have another option in mind.

Fields already has some history against Giants coach John Harbaugh. He faced Harbaugh’s Ravens as a rookie with the Chicago Bears in 2021. Fields completed four of 11 passes for 79 yards before a rib injury ended his day. He also ran once for four yards.

Fields later faced Baltimore with the Steelers, but he played only a handful of snaps in those games.

Now, he could return to New York with the Giants, looking for help at quarterback. The next 24 hours could bring clarity to whether Fields becomes part of their plans.
