New York Jets Set Up To Offer Blockbuster Trade Package For Lamar Jackson That The Ravens Can’t Refuse

Lamar Jackson has already put together a strong Hall of Fame resume. The Baltimore Ravens quarterback has won two AP NFL MVP awards and holds the league record for most rushing yards by a quarterback with 6,522 and counting. Even so, the biggest prize of all, a Super Bowl ring, is still missing from his trophy case.
Jackson has yet to win a Lombardi Trophy, and if Baltimore comes up short again this season, it could eventually force both sides to rethink their future together. If that happens, the New York Jets could become an unexpected landing spot.
FanDuel currently gives the Ravens the fourth-best Super Bowl odds. However, NFL insider Jason La Canfora sees an even bigger story developing in New York, reporting that the Jets could target former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin next offseason. Landing Tomlin could then open the door for a crazy move for Jackson.
Jets Could Offer Three First-Round Picks For Jackson
La Canfora reported, “A potential Tomlin hire could immediately trigger secondary moves across the league, with conversations pointing toward a pursuit of two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson. Jackson enters a high-stakes stretch with his long-term future in Baltimore unresolved amidst ongoing contract negotiations.”
Jackson’s current deal carries an $84.5 million cap hit for 2027. His contract also includes standard no-trade and no-tag clauses.
The Jets could still build an aggressive offer. They currently hold three 2027 first-round picks. Dallas sent one to New York in the Quinnen Williams trade. Indianapolis sent another as part of the Sauce Gardner deal.
Under this proposal, New York would send all three picks to Baltimore for Jackson.
ESPN’s Bill Barnwell recently pointed Jackson at roughly four first-round picks. Three picks would fall slightly short of that figure. Still, the package could give Baltimore major draft capital as it plans for life after Jackson.
Baltimore could flip those extra draft picks to find their next young quarterback. The 2027 draft class already looks stacked with big-name talent, with guys like Arch Manning, Dante Moore, Darian Mensah, Julian Sayin, LaNorris Sellers, Drew Mestemaker, and CJ Carr all shaping up as potential first-round targets.
Of course, the Ravens could also just keep those picks and stack the roster with top-tier young talent across the board.
For the Jets, making a move like this comes with far more desperation. New York has burned through a long carousel of signal-callers, including Mark Sanchez, Michael Vick, Sam Darnold, Joe Flacco, Zach Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, and Justin Fields, since their back-to-back AFC Championship trips in 2009 and 2010.
Now, they find themselves turning back to Geno Smith.
Trading for Lamar Jackson would instantly give the Jets the elite playmaker and franchise superstar they’ve been searching for. For an organization desperate to capture its first Super Bowl championship since Joe Namath delivered in 1969, a chance to land Jackson might simply be too tempting to pass.
