The New York Jets reportedly have their eyes on three quarterbacks this offseason, and one of them happens to be Carson Wentz.

It’s no secret that the New York Jets need a quarterback, but who they come away with remains to be seen. Of course, a rebuilding team like the Jets would love to draft a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick. However, this is one of the weakest drafts in recent memory to find that standout quarterback that they covet. Not helping matters is their own head coach sleeping at the NFL combine.

Knowing that, the Jets will search for a bridge starter, whether through free agency or trade.

SNY’s Connor Hughes dropped the news this week that the team is eyeing three different quarterbacks. They have their eyes on Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith, Minnesota Vikings pending free-agent quarterback Carson Wentz, and Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

Of those three, new offensive coordinator Frank Reich prefers Wentz, Hughes adds.

“No Kirk Cousins, but watch Geno Smith and Carson Wentz. There is interest there. Jacoby Brissett, too, if Cardinals can be convinced to part,” Hughes reported. “One source told me that the QB Reich prefers is Wentz.”

Does Carson Wentz Have Anything Left In The Tank?

The New York Jets were active last month after they traded Jermaine Johnson to Tennessee for defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat. Now, they want a quarterback to lead the team.

A new report says they are targeting Carson Wentz. If New York has to settle for Wentz, expectations for the team will be about as low as they have ever been. That doesn’t mean the Jets cannot exceed expectations and enjoy a surprisingly successful season.

Their new OC and Wentz have a prior connection from their time with Philadelphia. His best season came under Reich in Year 2, when he went 11-2 and threw for 3,296 yards with 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He was an MVP frontrunner before he tore his ACL.

Reich brought Wentz to Indianapolis in 2021. He went 9-8 as a starter, completing 62.4 percent of his passes for 3,563 yards with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

In the right system, Carson Wentz can most certainly deliver for the Jets.
