NFC Powerhouse Eyeing Alabama QB Ty Simpson In Shocking Draft Twist

An NFC team is reported to have possible designs on drafting Ty Simpson out of Alabama.
The Crimson Tide quarterback impressed under center in 2025, throwing for 3,567 yards, 28 touchdowns and just five interceptions.
Simpson’s throwing ability and deftness in the pocket have made him quite an interesting prospect heading into the 2026 NFL Draft. He is also ranked as the No. 2 QB in his class, behind only Fernando Mendoza.
Even so, he’s been linked to a contending team that, in fact, boasts the reigning MVP.
The Los Angeles Rams apparently “like” Simpson as a prospect. That’s according to ESPN’s Louis Riddick, who says he knows for a fact that the team admires Simpson.
“I can tell you this, I know personally, look, I know that they like Ty Simpson from Alabama,” Riddick said on ‘NFL Draft Daily’ this week. “And when you look at Ty’s skill set, and you think about Ty’s makeup, that’s exactly what they’re looking for.”
Ty Simpson Not Out Of Reach

The Rams are definitely not looking to replace Matthew Stafford.
After all, he’s coming off an MVP season, edging out an up-and-coming superstar in Drake Maye. But having a QB with Simpson’s skillset working behind him would leave their future in good hands.
The Alabama stud isn’t out of their reach either. They have two first-round picks this year (13 and 29). Simpson could still be available when they’re on the board, while there’s always the possibility of trading up.
