NFL Announces Punishment Decision For Stefon Diggs

Stefon Diggs now has more clarity about his NFL future.
On Friday, the league announced that it will not punish the veteran wide receiver after reviewing allegations involving his former chef. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL completed its investigation and found no grounds for action under the league’s personal conduct policy.
“The NFL closed out its review of the matter involving Stefon Diggs and his former chef. It said there was insufficient evidence to support a finding of a personal conduct policy violation,” Schefter reported.
The decision removes a question mark for Diggs as he continues to look for his next team. The 32-year-old remains a free agent after the New England Patriots released him in early March before a salary guarantee kicked in.
Although Diggs spent just one season in New England, he made a crucial impact. He led the team in receiving and became a reliable target for quarterback Drake Maye during a strong season. Despite his production, the Patriots decided to move on this offseason.
With the investigation now closed, teams can focus on Diggs’ on-field value as he looks for his next opportunity in the NFL.
Diggs Awaits Next Opportunity

Questions about Diggs’ future increased after his former live-in chef accused him of assault and strangulation following a dispute over money she claimed he owed her. Diggs strongly denied the allegations.
Last month, a court found Diggs not guilty in a battery case connected to the accusations. Now, the NFL has also closed its review without issuing a suspension or any other punishment.
The league’s decision could help speed up interest around the veteran receiver. Reports had suggested that a return to New England remained possible at one point. However, that possibility appears unlikely after the Patriots traded for A.J. Brown and added Romeo Doubs to their receiving group.
Shortly after the Brown trade became official, head coach Mike Vrabel said, “Right now, I don’t think that that’s something that I think we’re exploring, but I would never say no.”
Even at this stage of his career, Diggs remains one of the more accomplished receivers available. He recorded 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns for New England last season.
With the NFL’s review complete and no suspension coming, teams can now evaluate Diggs without uncertainty surrounding potential league discipline.
