NFL Cameraman Under Fire For Unacceptable Blunder During Steelers-Bills Preseason Game [VIDEO]

NFL fans had a lot to say after the Buffalo Bills beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 28-27 in their preseason finale, but the final score wasn’t the only thing to talk about.

Viewers tuning in on NFL Network were furious after sloppy camerawork caused them to completely miss one of the game’s top plays. Damar Hamlin picked off a pass from Steelers quarterback Will Howard, but the broadcast camera stayed focused on Howard instead of following the interception.

The commentator clearly called the play. “Intercepted! It’s Damar Hamlin with his second interception of the season!” Yet viewers could not see Hamlin make the pick.

By the time the broadcast finally panned over to track the action, Hamlin was already sprinting past midfield, leaving fans blasting the production as flat-out unacceptable.

The NFL later posted a clip of the play on X. Fans noticed that the highlight barely showed the interception.

One fan joked, “The interception was so bad they said we can’t show this murder.”

Another wrote, “Got the 3rd stringers working the camera as well huh?” The game featured many players fighting for roster spots, which made the comment even more pointed.

Other viewers also questioned the decision to post the clip.

“There’s that old ‘you had one job’ that comes to mind with this for the cameraman,” one fan wrote.

Another added, “Cameraman not even paying attention.”

The mistake took attention away from an important moment for Hamlin. The veteran safety has now recorded interceptions in each of his last two games as he fights for a spot on the Bills’ roster.

Hamlin returned to football after suffering cardiac arrest during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals in January 2023. He now faces a roster battle with Geno Stone for the third safety role behind Cole Bishop and C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

The Bills signed Stone to a one-year deal in the offseason with more guaranteed money than Hamlin. His recent performances, however, have helped Hamlin’s case.

Howard also had plenty at stake. He completed 9 of 15 passes for 69 yards and two touchdowns, but his interception hurt his chances as he competes with Drew Allar for a place on the Steelers’ roster.

Allar completed 9 of 18 passes for 88 yards without a touchdown or interception.

With the regular season approaching, Hamlin can take plenty from his recent play.
