NFL Fans Unload On Cris Collinsworth After Disastrous Season-Opening Performance

NFL analyst Cris Collinsworth frequently draws heavy criticism from fans for his distinct on-air broadcasting habits.
He is a man who loves football and also loves Patrick Mahomes. Collinsworth has repeatedly shown that he will bring up the Chiefs quarterback for no reason, at any time.
This time around, viewers expressed immense frustration during the recent 2026 season opener between the Patriots and Seahawks. Fans felt completely over his constant, repetitive mentions of their previous Super Bowl matchup.
Other fans complained that Collinsworth simply talks too much throughout the entire broadcast.
Cris Collinsworth Facing Major Fan Criticism Over Nonchalant Injury Commentary

Collinsworth and the broadcast team faced heavy backlash for his casual reaction to Sam Darnold’s injury.
Sam Darnold left the game in the first quarter after taking a hit and suffering a hip injury. While Darnold limped off the field toward the medical tent, Collinsworth continued to praise the Seattle offensive line as being dominant.
Viewers on social media criticized the broadcast for being too nonchalant and for failing to grasp the seriousness of the situation until Darnold was officially ruled out.
“The NBC broadcast have been very nonchalant about the Sam Darnold injury, no?” Ben Axelrod of Front Office Sports wrote on X.
Social Media Blasted His Overall Performance

We couldn’t get through a single game in the 2026 NFL season before fans started railing against Cris Collinsworth. All it took was a few minutes of game action for social media to erupt.
Many fans took to X and expressed their dislike of his overall performance.
“Cris Collinsworth, that interception was not on, Doubs, buddy, you’re awful,” one fan said.
“As a surprise to absolutely nobody, Cris Collinsworth still sucks,” a second fan wrote.
“Cris Collinsworth sucks a giant bag of d—s. The season just started, and I’m already tired of hearing that a–hole. Do better,” a third fan added.
“Haven’t even reached Halftime of the 1st game of the NFL season and I’m tired of Cris Collinsworth,” one final fan commented.
Unfortunately for fans, Collinsworth is signed with NBC Sports through the 2029–30 NFL season. It puts him on track to potentially retire or conclude his prominent broadcasting run around 2030.
