Tyler Shough is a democrat and doesn’t care who knows it. He made this clear in 2025 when he revealed he’s a strong supporter of Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear.

He said he’d vote for Beshear if he ever runs for president of the United States.

“Mr. Beshear, I hope you become president one day, man. We will be voting for you,” Shough said, via Daily Mail. “I appreciate the opportunity, and maybe at that point I’ll be in your cabinet for sports advisor or something.”

Beshear has a history with Trump: he defeated both Trump-backed opponents when he won the governorship.

He was noncommittal earlier this year about the 2028 White House race. Tyler Shough’s support for Beshear comes after his wife, Jordan, blasted Donald Trump’s administration. It was over ICE’s crackdown in Minneapolis earlier this year.

Following the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by federal agents, Jordan took to Threads to share a fan’s comment. It said, ‘When the government kills people to scare you into acting differently, that’s called state-sponsored terrorism.’

Jordan further added a quote from George Orwell’s novel “1984”, writing: ‘The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.’

New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough had a huge first season in the NFL in 2025. A 2025 draft pick, Shough became the team’s starter midseason and proceeded to set franchise rookie records.

Despite his late addition, he was named a finalist for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. The 40th pick from the 2025 NFL Draft had a nice rookie year, completing 67.6% of his passes for 2,384 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Last month, he was voted by fans as the Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Year. “I am truly humbled and honored to be chosen for this award,” said Shough.

“Coming in as a rookie, my goal was to do anything I could to contribute to our team’s success. Whatever I was asked to do, I just wanted to help the team. This wouldn’t be possible without all of my teammates and coaches giving everything they had each and every week to help us win. The award is truly a reflection of all of their hard work. I also want to say thank you to our amazing fans. Your unbelievable passion for the Saints and the city of New Orleans inspires all of us! I can’t wait to see where we go from here!”

There’s no question the Saints improved drastically once Shough was named their starter last season. They went 5-4 with him under center. Things might be even better after the team signed running back Travis Etienne Jr. and offensive guard David Edward in free agency.

If Tyler Shough builds off the success he had in 2025, the Saints could compete in a wide-open NFC South.
