“Nightmare Scenario” Emerges For Rashee Rice While Serving 30-Day Sentence

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice made headlines in recent weeks after he violated his five-year probation. The one-time Super Bowl champion was booked into Dallas County jail on May 19 after testing positive for THC.
After violating his probation terms, he put himself and the Chiefs in a complex position ahead of the 2026 NFL season. He is due to be released June 16, which means he will miss the team’s voluntary workouts and the mandatory three-day minicamp beginning June 9.
Additionally, he faces a “nightmare scenario.” Rice underwent a right knee clean-up procedure to remove loose debris that caused pain. The procedure requires a two-month recovery. Sports doctor Jesse Morse described the dangers Rice faces amid his recovery.
“To say this is a nightmare scenario for your star receiver, Rashee Rice, is an understatement,” he wrote on X on Friday. “I don’t think we will truly know how far along Rashee Rice is until late July / early August. Lots of things can go wrong between now and then.”

“He needs to (make sure he) avoids infection” 😳

Andy Reid Thinks Rashee Rice Will Be Ready For Week 1

On Thursday, Chiefs coach Andy Reid shared an update on Rice’s situation and said he would expect the wide receiver to play in Week 1.
“We think he’ll be ready for camp as we go forward. We’ll just see how it goes,” Reid said. “He knows the rehab he can do there, and I think they’re keeping an eye on him as far as any possible infection goes.”
The Chiefs and the league could punish him for violating his probation, but Reid believes Rice is learning from this situation.
