An autograph session at Pittsburgh Steelers training camp took an ugly turn after a fight broke out among fans near the practice field.

A viral video shows several adults shoving and throwing punches as people scramble to get out of the way. 

The clip also shows Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth reacting instinctively. He reaches for a young child standing near the altercation and pulls the youngster away from the crowd before the situation can escalate further.

Fortunately, the melee was broken up pretty quickly.

According to the user who posted the clip of the fight, it stemmed from fans trying to get player autographs.

While the brawl expectedly drew attention on its own, many viewers focused on Freiermuth’s awareness.

“Grown a$$ men fighting over a signature from another man is retarded,” one fan wrote. “Thankfully the Steelers player pulled that kid out of the way.”

Another added, “Adult autograph seekers are another level of pathetic.”

“Respect to Pat for taking that little kid so he doesn’t get hurt,” said a third. 

Another celebrated the tight end’s actions, sharing, “Muuuuuuuuuuuth with the grab to save the kid.”

Training camp autograph sessions often draw large crowds. Incidents like this remain uncommon, but they do happen, as you saw above. 

Fortunately, Freiermuth’s quick thinking helped ensure one young fan stayed clear of the chaos.
