The death of former NFL defensive tackle Kevin Johnson could be connected to something even more heinous. Johnson, who once played for the Philadelphia Eagles, tragically lost his life last month. He was found dead at the age of 55. Unfortunately, the end of his life came at the hands of someone else.

More information showed that the former defensive tackle was found stabbed to death in Los Angeles. The record cites “blunt head trauma and stab wounds.” Authorities also confirmed Johnson had been living in a homeless encampment at the time of his death. “Unfortunately, it appears he was homeless,” Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve De Jong said, according to Newsweek. “It looks like he was probably living there.”

The LA County medical examiner later ruled Johnson’s death a homicide.

Now, it seems that Kevin Johnson might’ve found the same fate as others before him, and possibly by the same person.

The stabbing death of former NFL player Kevin Johnson may be connected to three other killings involving homeless people. It was revealed that three other homeless people have been killed in the area along East 120th Street on the southwestern edge of the Willowbrook community. They were also at homeless encampments along the same channel. The homicides took place from October to January, the sheriff’s department said in a statement.

“At this time, investigators are working to determine whether these cases are related,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement. “One of the victims was Kevin Johnson, a former NFL player who played during the 1990’s.”

The sheriff’s department is asking for the public’s assistance in the investigation. They are urging anyone with information about the incidents to contact the Homicide Bureau or Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers.

Aside from his death, Johnson is being remembered as the standout at Texas Southern before he was selected in the fourth round by the New England Patriots in 1993.

The Patriots released Johnson that August. That led him to brief stops in Minnesota and Oakland as a practice squad member and training camp participant. Eventually, the Philadelphia Eagles claimed him off waivers in August 1995. He played two seasons for the Eagles, appearing in 23 games and starting six of them in the regular season.

In his career, Kevin Johnson racked up 54 tackles, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery, which he also returned for a touchdown.
