Raiders Wide Receiver Set For Emotional Return To New Orleans, Where His Brother Was Killed During New Year’s Terrorist Attack

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jack Bech is heading back to New Orleans this Sunday for a game that hits very close to home. The Raiders are playing the Saints at the Superdome, a stadium Bech went to all the time with his family when he was growing up.

Tragedy struck the family on New Year’s Day in 2025, when Bech’s brother, Tiger, was killed alongside 13 others in a New Orleans terror attack. Now, Jack is set to play his first NFL game in the exact city where he and his family used to watch Saints games together.

Bech Wants To Rewrite A Painful Memory

Bech spoke about the moment with Sam Warren of The Athletic earlier this week. He said he wants to change the way he remembers New Orleans after what happened to his brother.

“I just want to rewrite this wrong in New Orleans,” Bech told Warren. “Get that nasty, dirty taste out of our mouth.”

The game also brings Bech back to a childhood dream. He and Tiger attended Saints games at the Superdome while they were growing up. They dreamed about one day playing inside the building themselves.

Bech said achieving that dream would mean everything to Tiger.

“I know he couldn’t be any happier right now,” Bech said.

The Raiders selected Bech in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He has made five catches for 48 yards and one touchdown through two games this season. Las Vegas enters Sunday’s game looking to improve to 3-0 after finishing 3-14 last season.

Bech knows the emotions could make the day difficult. Raiders receiver coach Zach Azzanni has helped him prepare for that challenge.

“He said, ‘Play the game with emotions; don’t be emotional,’” Bech told Warren. “It’s something that’s been super helpful for me.”

Bech plans to leave everything on the field this Sunday. No matter what happens, he will carry his brother’s memory with him into the Superdome.
