Some teams have dealt with injury woes among their players in their season openers. Unfortunately, the Baltimore Ravens are among the select few.

While the Ravens secured a convincing victory against the Indianapolis Colts, the team didn’t come out as a whole unit after the game. Their promising rookie, Ja’Kobi Lane, got his debut cut short.

Ja’Kobi Lane May Be Out Several Weeks

Lane, a third-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, had a good preseason for the Ravens. He had five catches for 47 yards and a touchdown in preseason games.

Against the Colts, the 6-foot-4 wide receiver out of USC was targetted by Lamar Jackson three times during the game. He did make one catch for 11 yards.

“WR Ja’Kobi Lane (wrist) has been ruled out,” per the Baltimore Ravens’ official X account.

The severity of his wrist injury is currently unknown. But he is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday. However, it is widely expected that he’ll be out for at least a few weeks, maybe more.

Moreover, this is a tough break for the speedy youngster’s start to his NFL career.

It’s not just Lane who was injured for the Ravens in their season opener. Perhaps the most concerning one is for their star WR, Zay Flowers.

The 26-year-old, who was already having himself a very good game, went down with a hamstring injury against the Colts. Before the injury, Flowers had caught five passes for 150 yards. Like Lane, he too will have an MRI.

But the good news is that he may be ready to go in Week 2.

“#Ravens WR Zay Flowers, who left Sunday’s win over the #Colts early, suffered a hamstring injury that is not considered serious, sources say. He’ll have an MRI, but if it was a playoff game, he likely would’ve returned. Flowers is considered day-to-day heading into testing,” per Ian Rapoport.

Injuries have become a common sight in this year’s season openers. A few were extremely brutal, too. Football fans just want to see the teams healthy in their quest for a Super Bowl.
