Tom Brady’s journey to stardom was neither conventional nor easy. The seven-time Super Bowl champion entered the league as the last pick in the 2000 NFL draft. Before becoming the greatest quarterback to play the game, a Fox Sports analyst, a minority owner, and being linked with Alix Earle, Brady was a Michigan alumnus trying to make it in the league.

He spent his rookie season on the New England Patriots bench. Starter Drew Bledsoe, backups John Friesz and Michael Bishop were higher on the pecking order. He finished that season as the backup. Brady took the field in Week 3 of the 2001 season after Bledsoe suffered internal bleeding against the New York Jets in Week 2.

Ever since that moment, he never looked back. Bledsoe was relegated, and Brady went on to become a six-time Super Bowl winner in New England, before adding another Vince Lombardi Trophy in Tampa Bay.

During the 2024 Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Bledsoe had strong words for Brady. The former Patriots, Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills quarterback explained that Brady failed miserably at being a backup quarterback.

“You were the worst backup quarterback in the history of the NFL,” Drew Bledsoe said. “You never understood that when I got healthy, you were supposed to go sit the hell down.”

Ever since he found a footing, Brady became a menace. He played in 10 Super Bowls, beating dangerous opponents to become the NFL’s lord of the rings. While he couldn’t beat Eli Manning in their two Super Bowl matchups, Brady has found ways to beat him even after they both retired from the game.
