Sean McVay Leaks Bombshell Update On Aaron Donald’s NFL Comeback

Aaron Donald’s potential return to the NFL remains one of football’s biggest offseason storylines. And Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay just added more fuel to the speculation. 

Recent reports have already suggested that Donald has one major condition before considering a comeback.

Speaking with reporters, ESPN’s Sarah Barshop shared McVay’s latest comments about the retired defensive tackle. McVay said Donald continues to evaluate whether he wants to return to the field.

“But if that is something that he wants to do, we are going to try to be able to make that happen,” McVay said. “But I genuinely do not have an answer on whether he is or isn’t.”

McVay also explained that Donald is following a “very strict” process before making any decision.

McVay stressed that the decision is entirely Donald’s and praised everything the future Hall of Famer has already accomplished.

“I know he’s preparing himself to be able to make that decision,” the head coach said. “And if he feels good, then you guys know he’s going to be ready to rock. But if not, he’s earned the right. He doesn’t owe us anything. And he’s a special person.”

Donald has remained in outstanding shape since announcing his retirement in 2024. He frequently shares intense workout videos on social media, and cameras recently caught him training at the Rams‘ practice facility, further fueling comeback rumors.

Speculation has only intensified after the Rams acquired Myles Garrett in a blockbuster trade. If Donald decides to return, the two former Defensive Players of the Year could form one of the NFL’s most feared defensive fronts. 

McVay has repeatedly made it clear that the organization would welcome him back if he chooses to play. For now, however, the final decision remains in Donald’s hands.
