Sean McVay Under Fire For ‘Sore Loser’ Behavior Ahead Of Week 2

Sean McVay is taking heat after totally changing his tune about the Los Angeles Rams flying to Australia just one day before their Week 1 game.

The Rams started their 2026 season by getting blown out 27-7 by the 49ers in Melbourne. San Francisco got there a whole week early to get used to the time change, but the Rams showed up only a day before the game.

At first, McVay wouldn’t blame jet lag for the loss. He said he did what he thought was best for the guys and took full blame for the call.

Now, he’s singing a completely different tune, saying he hopes the Rams never have to play in Australia again.

“That game is so far, it’s almost like you try to do the ‘Men in Black’ thing where you say, ‘Hey, I don’t remember what happened. That was so long ago,’” McVay told reporters. “We’re not playing in Australia ever again, I hope. Not because it wasn’t a great atmosphere, that’ll get taken out of context.”

McVay’s comments got hate from fans on social media.

“Talk about a sore loser…,” 10 Sport AU wrote. “McVay qualified the statement by saying it had nothing to do with the atmosphere and spectacle of the day, but instead with the logistics and travel involved to make the game work.”

One fan compared McVay’s comments to a hypothetical situation involving Lamar Jackson.

“Imagine what the dialogue on national sports shows would be if Lamar Jackson walked up to the podium wearing shades,” the fan wrote.

Another person simply called McVay the “Biggest Crybaby in the League.”

One fan also pointed out the difference between McVay’s postgame comments and his latest remarks.

“He went from ‘No excuses,’ in the postgame presser to making an excuse in less than a week,” the fan wrote. “He said the right words last week, He never meant them.”

The Rams now turn their attention to Monday night. They will face the New York Giants in Week 2 and look to move past the Melbourne loss.
