Shedeur Sanders Trade Rumors Heat Up With AFC Rival Entering The Picture

The growing trade rumors surrounding Shedeur Sanders are now a lot more interesting.
Questions about Sanders’ future with the Cleveland Browns started earlier this week after ESPN Cleveland personality Tony Rizzo claimed the Browns have discussed possible trade options involving the young quarterback. While no deal appears close, the report got immediate speculation about possible landing spots.
One team that now sits on that list is the Indianapolis Colts.
The Colts already made a good move at quarterback this offseason by signing Daniel Jones to a two-year, $88 million deal, with incentives that could push the total value to $100 million. The signing showed confidence in Jones, but it did not completely end questions about the position.
Jones is still recovering from a torn Achilles injury that cut short his previous season. He is expected to be ready for Week 1, but some concerns remain about whether he can consistently perform at a high level.
Meanwhile, Anthony Richardson has yet to fully establish himself as the Colts’ long-term answer at quarterback. The former No. 4 overall pick has shown flashes of talent but has struggled to secure his future with the team.
Colts Linked To Possible Sanders Pursuit

The trade chatter started when Rizzo shared what he has heard regarding Cleveland’s quarterback situation.
“Antennas up. I’m hearing there are talks, ongoing calls, about the availability of Shedeur Sanders,” Rizzo said.
Rizzo also suggested the Browns may not view Sanders as their long-term solution.
“The Browns, for whatever reason, don’t think he’s the guy. That’s my opinion,” Rizzo said. “I’m going to say, right now for the record, I don’t think the four quarterbacks are going to camp on July 28. I don’t. Nothing is imminent, but the calls are being made.”
Following those comments, Mike Moraitis of The Big Lead identified the Colts as a possible destination if the Browns decide to trade Sanders.
Sanders showed some promise during his rookie season, even though he had an up-and-down year. He played in eight games, completed 56.6% of his passes, and threw for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also rushed for 169 yards and scored one touchdown.
A trade could make sense for Indianapolis if the asking price is not too high. The Colts could see Sanders as a young quarterback with potential to grow and develop. The team could also consider moving Anthony Richardson and gain some draft picks in return.
For now, everything remains speculation.
