UFC CEO Dana White is now involved in a major topic involving bettors and the gambling industry. As White’s company prepares to host an ambitious card in the White House, the businessman is trying to pull some strings.

White and U.S. President Donald Trump have grown closer in recent years. Trump had nothing but good things to say about him during an interview with Jake Paul. White remains one of the fiercest Trump defenders.

The 56-year-old tried to get help from Trump regarding a matter that has concerned many people since last year.

Gambling journalist Dustin Gouker reported on Wednesday that White sent a letter to Trump to ask him to help reverse a provision within the One Big Beautiful Act that places a 90 percent limit on gambling loss deductions.

“The current law makes it irrational to bet in the United States because you could end up owing taxes even when you lose or having a tax bill that exceeds your winnings for the year,” White wrote. “The UFC supports a healthy, legal sports betting market to drive fan engagement, broadcast value, and sponsorships. When legal betting is discouraged, it hurts the ecosystem we’ve spent years building in partnership with state regulators and licensed operators.”

He mentioned that he and Trump discussed the matter before. Time will tell whether Trump will act on this request.
