Trade Incoming? New York Giants Expected To Make Blockbuster Move On Monday To Replace Injured QB Jaxson Dart

The New York Giants might have to find a new quarterback as early as Monday after Jaxson Dart went down with a serious knee injury.

Dart hurt his left knee during Monday night’s game against the Rams. An MRI later showed damage to his MCL, PCL, and meniscus, meaning he’s officially done for the rest of the regular season.

It’s a brutal blow for the Giants, especially with how well the rookie had been playing. In 14 starts, Dart threw for 2,522 yards, ran for another 541, and put up 27 total touchdowns.

Giants Could Add Quarterback

The Giants now need another option for John Harbaugh’s quarterback room. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the team has spent the week calling around the league about available quarterbacks.

Pelissero said the Giants could make a move soon.

“The Giants spent the week making calls on QBs after Jaxson Dart’s injury, and league sources believe it’s a matter of when, not if, they acquire one – possibly as soon as Monday,” Pelissero said.

The Giants could look at free agents if they want to avoid giving up an asset in a trade. Jimmy Garoppolo is one obvious name.

Garoppolo has been around the league for a long time. Since getting drafted in 2014, he’s completed 67.4% of his passes, throwing for 15,828 yards and 96 touchdowns.

He actually thought about retiring over the summer before deciding to keep playing. With Dart out, New York could really use his experience, who knows what it takes to run an NFL offense.

A trade could give New York another path. ESPN’s Mike Greenberg recently mentioned Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy as a potential option.

“J.J. McCarthy, in theory, could come to the Giants, play well and then have trade value somewhere else,” Greenberg said.

The Giants will have several factors to consider before making a move. For now, all signs point toward the team adding another quarterback after Dart’s injury.
