Tua Tagovailoa & 3 Other Big-Name Quarterbacks Expected To Get Traded Before Week 1

Tua Tagovailoa was given every chance in the world to start fresh with his new team, the Atlanta Falcons. However, in a sudden twist, he lost his chance for a starting job. To add insult to injury, he might be moved, too, along with four other QBs.

After six seasons as the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins, he was unceremoniously booted by the team. The Falcons swooped in, hoping that Tagovailoa can either start or become their primary backup this season.

Tua Tagovailoa And Four QBs May Be Moved Soon

Preseason is drawing to a close, and it’s becoming clearer that the Falcons are leaning towards Michael Penix Jr. as the team’s starting quarterback. While Tagovailoa can still make his case as a starter, it looks like he’ll stick as the backup – for now.

However, according to NFL insider Benjamin Allbright, he sees four QBs who could be moved in the next few weeks. 

The four names he mentioned on his post were Tua Tagovailoa, Cleveland Browns’ Gabriel Dillon, Minnesota Vikings’ J.J McCarthy, and Indiana Colts’ Anthony Richardson.

Could see multiple QBs on the move in the next few weeks.

All have had calls placed on them to varying degrees of interest.

Allbright added that calls were placed regarding the availability of the four QBs. It remains to be seen if any of them will be moved soon. What’s certain is that none of them are expected to start in Week 1.

J.J. McCarthy’s Time With Vikings May Be Done Too

While there’s a chance that Tua Tagovailoa may stick around as backup for Penix Jr, the same cannot be said with J.J. McCarthy with the Vikings.

Not only did the youngster lose the starting QB job to Kyler Murray in Week 1, but he’s starting to lose his backup spot to veteran Carson Wentz. According to a report from Kevin Seifert of ESPN, McCarthy and Wentz split the time during their second-team run with the Minnesota Vikings.

Should the Vikings want to perform well this season, they may opt for Wentz as their primary backup because he’s a proven veteran.
