Wild Theory Claims NFL Is The Real Reason Team USA Will Never Win The World Cup [VIDEO]

One of sports’ oldest debates is making the rounds again.

A viral video comparing Barcelona and Spain star Lamine Yamal and Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase surfaced on X before Sunday’s World Cup final. It shows side-by-side clips highlighting their footwork, acceleration and change of direction.

The account suggests that if a player with Yamal’s athletic traits grew up in the United States, he would likely choose football instead of soccer.

The debate quickly spread across social media.

“Soccer, for the most part, gets the guys that won’t make it in the NBA, MLB and NFL… If our very best athletes played soccer they would demolish the rest of the world,” one fan commented. 

“Facts! We learn to catch, run, hit and throw using our hands. If you can dribble and shoot done deal. Fast guys run track because the don’t like the rough stuff,“ said another. 

World Cup Theory Doesn’t Hold Water With Everyone

Other users strongly disagreed with the take.

“The greatest soccer player of all time is 5’6″. This argument that if America’s best athletes played soccer we’d dominate, is just not true,” one argued.

Another noted, “Soccer has been in the U.S. before these guys were born. If they wanted to play soccer they would have picked that.”

The argument isn’t new. It resurfaces almost every World Cup cycle, with fans debating whether elite American athletes would choose soccer if it carried the same cultural and financial appeal as the NFL, NBA or MLB.

The United States has made steady progress on the international stage, reaching the knockout rounds of multiple recent World Cups. Still, the country has never reached a men’s World Cup final.

Unfortunately, while America excels at football, there’s really no one else to compete with, although things could get interesting at the 2028 Olympic Games.
