After nearly five months on the run, former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is now in the custody of U.S. authorities.
In June, a judge in Miami-Dade issued a warrant for Antonio Brown’s arrest for attempted murder. The incident happened back on May 16, when Brown is accused of grabbing a security officer’s gun and shooting it at another man with whom he got into a fight.
Per David K. Li and Matt Lavietes of NBC News, Miami authorities have confirmed that Brown is now in custody. They wouldn’t provide exact details, such as when he was brought in, but a spokesperson gave the outlet the following statement:
“Miami Police confirm that U.S. Marshals have apprehended Antonio Brown and that he has been extradited to the U.S. No date has been set for his transfer to Miami-Dade County.”
Soon after the warrant was issued, it was reported that Brown was traveling in the Middle East. In June, authorities later stated that they didn’t consider the former All-Pro wide receiver “on the run”, so they weren’t exactly in a hurry to bring him into custody.
If convicted, Antonio Brown faces up to 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Antonio Brown Has Had Numerous Legal Troubles Off The Field

Brown once had an easy path to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but it’s hard to envision the Canton committee overlooking the many legal issues and controversies that have followed him since 2018.
In 2019, before his release from the New England Patriots after just one game, news broke that Brown was accused of sexual assault by his former trainer. A second woman later came forward and accused him of misconduct, and Brown eventually settled a lawsuit with the former trainer.
In Jan. 2020, Antonio Brown was arrested for attacking a moving truck driver outside his home. Brown has also been charged numerous times for failing to make child support payments.
